Zihuatanejo is the fourth-largest city in the state of Guerrero, Mexico. Politically it belongs to the municipality of Zihuatanejo de Azueta in the western part of Guerrero, on the Pacific Coast, about 240 km (approximately 145 miles) northwest of Acapulco. The modern tourist resort of Ixtapa is 5 km away. Zihuatanejo is located on the Mexico's Pacific coast in the southern state of Guerrero and is well known for its beautiful, white sandy beaches, most notably, Playa La Ropa. The name Zihuatanejo comes from Nahuatl language and means "Place of Women."

Ixtapa Golf Courses

Campo de Golf Ixtapa

This Robert Trent Jones, Jr. -designed course (formerly known as the Palma Real) ranks as one of Mexico's finest. Its 18 holes (6,898 yards) provide a diverse assortment of challenges, wandering through settings that range from lagoons to jungle hilltops to the sands of Playa Palmar.

The course else serves as a wildlife preserve (watch for crocodiles in the water hazards!). There is a complete club house with five lighted tennis court, a large pool, pro shop, locker facilities, restaurant and bar.

Marina Ixtapa Golf Course

The newer of the two, this 18-hole, 6,781-yard, Robert Von Hagge-designed course opened in March 1994 as part of the modern Marina Ixtapa development. It is ranked by Golf digest as one of Mexico's best courses.

The Marina Ixtapa Golf course features a series of saltwater inlets (ideal for cruising pleasure craft), allowing water to come into play on 13 of the 18 holes - a real beauty! The complete facility includes a club house, two lighted tennis courts, lockers, a restaurant, bar and swimming pool.
