It's an honor for us to introduce you to Danell Leyva. Danell is a Cuban-American gymnast who came to this country when he was a year old. Both of his parents were members of the Cuban National team, who settled in Miami.  He is the 2011 National All-Around Champion and winner of High Bar & Parallel Bars. Danell has just won his first World Championship gold medal on Parallel Bars.
Danell is highly motivated and loves to be able to do tricks that no one else can do.  His persistence is one of his greatest strengths.  This has led him to much success in the gymnastics venue.  He has just taken the USA team to a bronze medal at the 2011 World Championships. His future goal is the 2012 London Olympics.

He has traveled to Colombia, Japan, France, Guatemala, Netherlands, Australia, Russia, Canada and Mexico representing the USA.

Leyva is coached by his dad Yin Alvarez.  Among his role models are Blaine Wilson, Paul Hamm, David Durante & Alexi Nemov.  He is interested in helping world disaster victims and passionate about animals.
